A NEWSLETTER FOR THE WESTRIDGE SCHOOL COMMUNITY

Principal's Message

Hello Westridge Students, Families, and Community Members,

Welcome to Week 12! We are officially settling into the second quarter, and our Warriors have had plenty of time to learn the routines, understand expectations, and figure out what it takes to be successful.

Now comes the important part—putting it all into practice EVERY day!

Middle school is full of opportunities to learn, grow, make friends, and discover who you are. And while we spend a lot of time talking about academics, something else is just as important: the choices we make and how those choices impact the people around us.

💙 Your Choices Matter!
Every day, our students make hundreds of choices.

Some are small—getting to class on time, completing an assignment, or choosing to participate in a lesson.

Others can have a much bigger impact—how we respond when someone upsets us, whether we get involved in someone else's disagreement, or what we decide to say or post on social media.

Here's something I want every Warrior to remember:
Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD. Before reacting, take a moment to think. Is this going to help the situation or make it worse? Is it worth the consequence? Will I be proud of this decision tomorrow?

You won't always make the perfect choice. None of us do! But learning to stop, think, and make a better decision is part of growing up.

🏠 House Pride: More Than Just Points!
Our House competition continues, and we love seeing our Warriors representing their Houses!
Whether you are part of Sparta, Athena, Leonidas, Centurion, Guerrero, or Valiente, remember that House pride isn't just about winning.

It's about showing up for your team, encouraging others, participating, and helping create a positive school environment. You don't have to be the loudest person at a pep rally or win every competition to make a difference. Sometimes representing your House means helping a classmate, showing respect, making a positive choice, or doing the right thing when nobody is watching.

That's what real Warrior pride looks like!
And don't forget—those House points add up!
👀🏆

📚 Second Quarter: Don't Wait to Get Started!
We are still early in the second quarter, which means this is the PERFECT time to establish good academic habits. Students, here's my challenge:

  • Don't spend the first half of the quarter creating problems you'll spend the second half trying to fix!

  • Stay on top of your assignments. Check your grades. Ask questions when you need help. Participate in class.

  • Families, take a few minutes this week to check in with your child about how the second quarter is going.

  • One simple question can make a difference: "What is one thing you are doing better this quarter than you did last quarter?"

  • Celebrate the improvements, even the small ones!

🔔 The Hallway Is a Transition, Not a Destination!
Warriors, we need to talk about getting to class on time! The time between classes is meant for moving fro
🌟 Week 12 Challenge: Be the Difference!
This week, I'm challenging every Warrior to do three things:

  1. Make one better choice. Walk away from the drama, get to class on time, or complete the assignment you have been putting off.
  2. Encourage one person. Give someone a compliment, help a classmate, or thank a teacher or staff member.
  3. Do one thing that makes your House proud. Participate, show kindness, or demonstrate what it means to be a Warrior.
Small actions can create BIG changes.

💙 You don't have to be the best at everything. Just work on being better than you were yesterday.

Let's continue building a school where everyone belongs, everyone contributes, and everyone has an opportunity to succeed.

Have an amazing Week 12, Warriors!
One School. Six Houses. One Warrior Family! 💙
Go Warriors!
