Westridge Warriors Weekly

A NEWSLETTER FOR THE WESTRIDGE SCHOOL COMMUNITY

Principal's Message

Hello Westridge Students, Families, and Community Members,

Welcome to Week 6! We have made it through the first several weeks of school, routines are becoming habits, and our Warriors are finding their place on campus. This week, we are taking that idea of belonging to a whole new level with the launch of our House System!

🏠 Which House Will Choose You?

This year, every student will become a member of a House!

Our House System is designed to create a stronger sense of belonging, connection, school spirit, and friendly competition across our campus. Houses will bring together students from different grades, classrooms, and friend groups as one team.

Throughout the year, students will have opportunities to earn points for their House through things like attendance, academics, positive behavior, school spirit, competitions, and demonstrating what it means to be a Warrior.

But first…students need a House!
Some students may say they chose their House

Others may say the House chose THEM! 👀
Either way, by the end of this week, every Warrior will have another team to call home.

🎉 House Assignment Pep Rally — Friday, September 18

We will celebrate our House assignments with a special House Pep Rally on Friday, September 18, from 3:00 PM–4:00 PM.

📣 What Is a Pep Rally?
A pep rally is a school celebration designed to bring students and staff together, build school spirit, and get everyone excited about being part of our school community.

Think music, cheering, games, competitions, school spirit, and LOTS of energy!

For this pep rally, students will celebrate their new Houses, meet their House teammates, learn what their House represents, and begin building some friendly competition.
This isn't just about having fun. We want our students to feel like they are part of something bigger than themselves.

🏠 One School. Different Houses. ONE Warrior Family.

We can't wait to see which House each student joins—and which House earns the ultimate bragging rights this year!

📚 Progress Reports Are Here

As we celebrate our Houses, we also need to stay focused on academics. Progress reports will be sent home September 17.

Students, take a good look at your progress. Celebrate what is going well, but also pay attention to where you need to improve.
A progress report isn't the finish line—it's a checkpoint.

If your grade isn't where you want it to be, there is still time to make changes. Talk to your teachers, complete your assignments, ask questions, attend school every day, and use your class time wisely.
⏰ Beat the Bell Continues!
We are continuing to track tardies. By Week 6, students know where their classes are and how much time they have to get there.
Our expectation is simple:

🔔 Be in class and ready to learn when the bell rings.

Being just a few minutes late every day adds up to a lot of missed instruction. Warriors, make every minute count!
🌟 Week 6 Challenge: Find Your Place & Make It Better

This week is about BELONGING.
Whether you are joining your new House, sitting in a classroom, playing on a team, participating in a club, or simply walking through our hallways—you are part of our Warrior community.

Our challenge to every student is simple:
Find your place. Get involved. Encourage someone else. Earn points for your House. Make your House proud. Make your school proud.

And most importantly…
💙 Make YOURSELF proud.
We can't wait to celebrate with our Warriors on Friday!

Which House will choose YOU? 🏠👀
Let's have an incredible Week 6!
Go Warriors!

Please help us to encourage every student to participate in class. Remember, asking questions is a key part of the learning process!

ELA

The next classroom assessment for ELA will be on Monday, September 14 and Tuesday, September 15.

Math

Please chat with your student about what they do have control over before a test and during. They do have control over having a good night sleep, eating a good breakfast, arriving to school on time, use their test taking strategies and always have a positive mind set!

Attendance Matters

The words 'attendance matters' are displayed in blue and gold.
We want to remind everyone about the importance of regular attendance. Being on time and present not only supports your academic success but also fosters a sense of community. Let’s strive for a strong start by making every school day count!
