A NEWSLETTER FOR THE WESTRIDGE SCHOOL COMMUNITY

Principal's Message

Hello, Westridge Families!

We are excited to share some great news from our athletics program. Our girls basketball team earned their first win of the season, showing determination, teamwork, and school pride—congratulations to our players and coaches on this accomplishment. Our boys basketball team also competed with heart and perseverance, fighting hard until the final buzzer even though the outcome did not go their way. We are proud of the effort and sportsmanship both teams continue to demonstrate.

As we move further into the school year, our high school partners will be visiting campus to meet with students and begin the course request process. This is an important time for our students as they begin planning for the next phase of their academic journey. If you have questions about which high school your child is zoned for or will be attending, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Singletary, who will be happy to assist you.

As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we are building a school community where students are encouraged to grow, strive, and believe in themselves. Every day is an opportunity for progress, and with dedication, teamwork, and a positive mindset, our students will continue to achieve great things.

As we move through this busy and important season, I want to thank our families for your continued partnership and support. With focus, determination, and encouragement from home and school, our students can finish strong and take pride in how far they have come. Together, let’s keep pushing forward and reminding our students that their hard work today is building the foundation for a bright future.
Best Regards,

Character Word of the Month – Empathy/Caring

Two boys shake hands outdoors, one standing and one kneeling, with the word 'Caring' above them.
Empathy is the ability to understand how someone else is feeling and to show care and kindness toward them. It means putting yourself in another person’s shoes and responding in respectful and supportive way.

Attendance Matters

The words 'attendance matters' are displayed in blue and gold.
We want to remind everyone about the importance of regular attendance. Being on time and present not only supports your academic success but also fosters a sense of community. Let’s strive for a strong start by making every school day count!

A Few Reminders...

The Westridge Warriors logo features a fierce warrior in armor, ready for action.
OCPS will be implementing a 3-year reevaluation/review cycle for all Section 504 plans, effective starting with the 2025-2026 school year.

There will be specific exceptions to the 3-year review procedure:

  • Grade Progression: Transition meetings will still occur for students moving from 5th to 6th grade and 8th to 9th grade.
  • Senior Transition: 504 plans will be updated during a student's graduation year.
  • Parent Requests: We will continue to hold meetings within 30 days if a parent requests a review.
  • New Information: If new information is presented that impacts a student's 504 plan, a 3-year reevaluation/review will be conducted.
  • Plans that have Individual Health Care Plans and/or Related Services will be reviewed annually.

Please reach out to your school-based Section 504 contact with any questions you may have.
